More reliable SKUs when editing variations

Variation edits now work out which options share a SKU from the values themselves, and keep shared stock intact.

Update recap for 2026-09-09.

Etsy lets a SKU vary by one variation property, by both, or not at all. When you edited variations, Everlyst previously carried over the listing’s old SKU setting even if your edits changed which options actually shared a SKU. That could cause Etsy to refuse the save, or leave SKUs grouped in a way you did not intend.

The Variations editor now works out the SKU setting from the SKU values you are saving. New options inherit SKUs consistently with the options beside them, and listings that share stock across options keep sharing it after the edit.

Backup & Restore applies the same checks. If a saved backup contains a SKU combination that Etsy would no longer accept, that restore step is skipped and reported rather than sent to Etsy. Read how Backup & Restore works for more on how restore results are reported.
